Bonjour, je suis Josée, une aventurière canadienne et éducatrice avec une passion pour découvrir le monde à vélo. J'ai parcouru plus de 50 000 km dans 30 pays, sur cinq continents, en solo et sans assistance ! Je suis tombée amoureuse de la Tanzanie lorsque je suis venue pour la première fois en 2020 pour gravir le Kilimandjaro. Je suis retournée en Afrique pour faire du vélo de l'Afrique du Sud à l'Ouganda, passant deux mois en Tanzanie. Je vis maintenant en Tanzanie pendant une partie de l'année. J'ai une expérience antérieure dans la planification et la conduite de voyages en Amérique du Sud et en Tanzanie. J'ai un master en linguistique et je parle couramment français, anglais et espagnol. Explore North-Eastern Tanzania’s stunning vistas by bicycle passing through many villages and towns. Meet local cultures such as the Chagga People, the Maasai, Usambara tribesmen, and the People of Zanzibar.
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport, you will be met and transferred 50 km to the town of Moshi (journey time is approximately 45 minutes depending on traffic). This evening there will be a tour briefing before dinner.

Cycling from Moshi to Marangu, Marangu Village is a picturesque settlement located in the Moshi region of Tanzania. Nestled at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Marangu Village is a popular starting point for climbers embarking on their journey to conquer the mountain. The village is renowned for its natural beauty, surrounded by lush green landscapes, fertile farmlands, and dense rainforests. It is home to the Chagga people, who have a rich cultural heritage and a long history of living harmoniously with the mountain.

Immerse yourself in the history of Marangu and its people. Marangu, at the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, is a small town with a great amount of history and ancient traditions. Get carried away by the Chagga tribe, unique rainforest landscape, and coffee growing insights. This tour has it all: action, tradition, and culinary. In the morning we start our tour in Marangu and visit Marangu gate, Waterfalls & Coffee tour. The area around Marangu is home to the local Chagga tribe and you will learn all about their history and traditions on this full-day excursion.

Lake Chala is a hidden gem, a perfect place to relax and unwind from the busy city life. The remote caldera lake on the border of Tanzania & Kenya is only 55 km from Moshi and therefore the perfect getaway for a day. Pure tranquility and beautiful nature await you at the lake. Explore the area on one of the many possible hikes, kayak across borders, or simply enjoy the stunning vistas of untouched Africa. In the morning, you will ride the bicycle to Lake Chala Safari Camp with a packed lunch box and drinking water. Upon arrival, you will see the beautiful private game reserve overlooking the Crater Lake. Our guide will take you down to the lake. Spend the afternoon swimming, exploring, or kayaking (optional). You will experience the natural beauties of the green scenery, landscape, and will also have the opportunity to meet local people doing their daily activities. There is a very high possibility of spotting baboons, velvet monkeys, blue monkeys, and many different birds that live in this wonderful savannah land. Overnight in Lake Chala Safari Lodge. There is a bar that serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a restaurant that serves snacks and delicious main meals.

After breakfast, you will have an early departure and drive about 250 km south to the ecologically important Usambara Mountains. The van will drive a very steep hill and then will pass through the beautiful village of Mtae. After lunch at the lodge, walk/cycle along the ridge through picturesque villages to the Mambo View Point eco-lodge at 1900 m or simply rest and enjoy the magnificent views over the Pare Mountains, the Mkomazi National Park, and Kilimanjaro.

You will cycle from the lodge at Usambara Mountains (Lushoto). You will ride through winding roads and picturesque villages. Expect to see banana plantations, small farms, and tea and coffee plantations along the route. The highlands offer a remarkable experience of the rich biodiversity and warm hospitality of the local people. On arrival in Lushoto, you can visit the surrounding villages and go for a short hike before dinner.

Today you will cycle from Lushoto to Soni, a scenic ride through the lush Usambara Mountains. You will pass through traditional villages and enjoy the breathtaking views along the way. Soni is known for its tea and coffee plantations. Arriving at your destination, you will have time to explore the area and relax.

Cependant, à la fin de la journée, nous étions dans de charmants resorts avec une excellente nourriture, des piscines et, parfois, des massages pour nos muscles fatigués. Nous avions des guides devant et derrière nous pendant que nous faisions du vélo, et le camion de soutien s'arrêtait souvent pour nous offrir de l'eau et des collations. Tout le monde était très sympathique, et les habitants le long de la route nous faisaient souvent signe et disaient bonjour en passant.”
